Cherry Chesterfield is a med tech from Cleveland Ohio who is recruited by Kid Afrika to take care of Bobby's physical body while he is in the aleph.
She first appears in Mona Lisa Overdrive when Kid Afrika is passing the responsibility of hiding and maintaining Bobby and the aleph onto Slick at Factory in Dog Solitude. Kid Afrika had recruited her from a roadhouse called Moby Jane's, where she is stuck waiting tables after her boyfriend deserted her there and took all their money.
Cherry and Slick try to work out what is going on with Bobby and aleph, but do not have the necessary information. Gentry has some insight but struggles to covey it to them.
At one stage when they are in contact with Bobby in the aleph Cherry informs him that is body is dying and requires intensive care.
When 3Jane's, operatives come to secure the aleph Cherry attempts to escape on foot with slick but is driven back into Factory by gunfire. After Molly, Mona and Angie arrive at Factory during the confrontation they end up on the upper level of Factory with Bobby, Slick, Gentry and the aleph. When the catwalk leading to their location collapses from Molly's gunfire Cherry panics and begins to scream until Mona slaps a muscle relaxant derm on her and causes her to collapse.
Slick carries the still drugged Cherry out of Factory and the two escape with Molly in the hovercraft. At the conclusion of Mona Lisa Overdrive Cherry intends to return to Cleveland with Slick, and Molly parts with the advice that Cherry makes Slick take a shower.
